What’s up everybody! I’m excited to announce that I’m participating in a week-long campaign with Nike+Fuelband starting this Sunday (tomorrow!). The campaign and the Fuelband are about getting people to exercise, be healthy, physically fit, get off the couch and do something active. As most of us know, we have a crazy rate of obesity in this country.. fools are lazy! The Fuelband is a way to motivate yourself and track your progress while doing it.
I perform for about an hour and a half each night. It’s my biggest means of exercise in the day, and has kept me in pretty good shape after a year full of shows. Halfway through the year I started using the Fuelband as a way to gauge what performing actually does, and it’s super dope. It’s become a source of valuing the hard work you put in, and pushing myself to go harder.
Also, an important component to our partnership is that we asked Nike to make a donation to the Orion Center in Seattle. We have been working hard this past week to help raise money for The Orion Center, as they’ve recently had their funding cut and are in need of money to keep their doors open. It’s extremely important to me that we keep this organization going, and Nike has generously given us $25,000 to donate to the Center, which is a huge help to the cause and the Seattle youth community.
On Sunday, Dec 8th (TOMORROW), Nike will be running a Fuelband competition in Seattle. The first 206 participants of which get free Fuelbands AND the top performers get FREE tickets to one of our sold out Key Arena shows. We encourage you guys to participate, get out, get active, and hopefully see us next week at The Key. Follow @NikeSeattle for more details and here are the rules: http://gonike.me/206rules
